Kumquat - Icon of the silent film, Charlie Chaplin was a master of slapstick comedy--that type of physical comedy characterized by absurd situations and exaggerated movements. One of the key elements of slapstick involves the pratfall, of which Chaplin was an expert. Usually a banana peel was the slippery medium, but occasionally other fruits were used and it's quite possible that Chaplin may have used his favorite fruit, the kumquat, in just such a fall!
